Welcome to The Patrol Challenge!

PATROL CHALLENGE 2025
October 2nd – 4th
Registration is OPEN!

The Patrol Challenge consists of 3 major aspects:

Young girl wearing a green tank top and khaki shorts taking a selfie, standing in front of a group of 3 young boys who are posing on a decorative bench

A Photo Safari

Young blonde girl looking through a magnifying glass at a fern

A Scavenger Hunt

Young Black girl doing a handstand in front of three boys and one girl who are cheering

Unique Group Activities

The Patrol Challenge is designed for the following groups:
📌 Girl Scout Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors
📌 Scouts BSA Wolves, Bears, Webelos, Arrow of Light, Troops, and Venture Crews

Teams are made up of independent patrols of 3-8 scouts. The playing field is DC, Eastern Maryland, Northern Virginia, and North-Western West Virginia. You can explore to the outer limits, stay right in your own backyard, or anywhere in-between: YOU DECIDE what you want to do and where you want to go!

How Does The Patrol Challenge Work?

The Scouts are given a list of clues to figure out, then they decide where to go and what to do. Photos are taken at the Photo Safari locations, Scavenger Hunt items are collected, and Unique Activities are completed. An example of Unique Activities are videoing a commercial about the Patrol Challenge or making cookies and bringing them to a Fire or Police Station. Final clues are given to the scouts in October, but select Early Bonus Clues are available every month starting in July. Many Troops, Packs, and Crews use these as their activity for the months leading up to the challenge!

Everything is done for points. Patrols typically do a combination of Photo Safari, Scavenger Hunt, and Unique Activities to get their final score. However, if you only want to work on one or two categories, that’s totally fine! After all photos are taken, items are collected, and activities are done, the Patrols will turn in everything to one central location on Sunday to end the event. It’s a festive atmosphere where scouts can show off their treasures and swap stories of their weekend adventures. Awards, patches, and full statistics of how each Patrol scored are given out at our PC Awards Celebration. However, while the Patrol Challenge may be a contest, the most important aspect is what every Scout will learn from the program!

We cannot wait to challenge you!
